Taiwan - Tourist VAT Refund

Taiwan plans to expand its VAT refund service for foreign visitors, according to the Taiwanese Taxation Administration. This is planned to come into effect on September 1st 2017 and will apply to tourists who have purchased more than TWD 2,000 (approx. EUR 56) of goods at any of the 1,800 Tax Refund participating stores.

Taiwan - Electronic Services VAT Threshold Announced

Further to our report earlier this year we can confirm that foreign providers of Business to Consumer (B2C) electronic services - e-books, games, news sites, software and streaming media - to Taiwanese customers must now register for VAT purposes if their annual B2C sales exceed a VAT registration threshold of TWN 480,000 (approx. EUR 13,500) in a calendar year.
