Ireland - Tourism VAT rate to be extended



The Irish Government has decided to allow the reduced VAT rate of 9% to be applied to tourist services for another year, a decision that has been welcomed by the Irish Tourist Industry Confederation (ITIC).

Paul Gallagher, ITIC Chairman, said that since the UK’s vote to leave the EU, the Sterling/Euro exchange rate has weakened by 15% and as UK visitors make up around 40% of all international visitors to Ireland, it is vital to retain the reduced rate.
